In fairness to the unfair...

U2 concert in PA on the 16th is only partially a Santorum fundraiser. Rick and his man on dog show were given a skybox to sell at 1,000 dollars a seat to raise campaign funds for Santorum's re-election.
The U2 Coroporation says Bono, who visited with ally Bill Frist at the Republican Convention last year, has no knowlege of the fundraiser. The statment from U2Co did not speak against Santorum's anti-human stances, or distance themselves in any way.
So it is not a full out benefit concert. U2 will only help raise about 20k for Santorum. That's all, just 20k for hate.
Thus far, U2 and/or Bono have no public association with progressive politicians in the States, just the far right. Bono has also been speaking highly of Bush of late.
Bono supports Frist and Santorum, this we know. He gives interviews in praise of GW. The friend of my enemy is usually also my enemy.
If Nixon had thrown a fundraiser at a Plastic Ono concert, would John have just sat back and said so what? I think not.
I personally will not be spending anything including my time on U2 music in the future, and just for good measure I'm not buying an Ipod either...

If this is true, I too am disappointed. However, I think I'll wait until I know more about this. I know that Bono is trying to raise money and support for Africa. He has stated that he/they will not get into bad rapping Bush or politicians and I can (if not relate) understand his reasoning for this stance. However, raising money for Santorum is unacceptable! Unless he doesn't know about Santorum's hate speech.
Even still, he should know better! I thought that he did.
